Hellooooo!
Hiya, happy Friday! I pulled a real Jordan Catalano yesterday — for a solid two hours, I kept thinking to mytself, “It doesn’t FEEL like Friday …”
Anyway! Lots of fun stuff to talk about, so let’s get to it!
This week on HTBH: Murder in book club (!!!) and mom stuff on MSCL
The GRETAGRAM book club is officially in podcast form! Earlier this week, I had the great pleasure of interviewing the author of the February book club pick, How to Commit a Postcolonial Murder!!! Nina McConigley talks about the weirdness of growing up in an immigrant family in Wyoming, the complicated legacy of colonialism, and the nostalgic power of Noxema.
And in today’s MSCL rewatch episode, Kristen Meinzer and I discuss My So-Called Life episodes 9 and 10 --”Halloween” and “Other Peoples’ Mothers” -- with Patrick Hinds!!!! He co-hosted his own MSCL deep-dive podcast, My So-Called Podcast, in 2018.
We talk about whether Angela ACTUALLY time travels, how terrible it is to add oregano to a curry, and how Patrick sees Patty differently now that he’s a parent.
If you have thoughts about the show that you’d like to share, I’d love to play them in the podcast! Just record yourself on your phone and then email the file to greta m johnsen at gmail dot com. (Pro tip: you can also just reply to this email!) Send the file by this coming Tuesday if you want to be in the podcast!
Last call for February book club!
We’ll discuss How to Commit a Postcolonial Muder THIS Sunday, Feb. 22 at noon Central Time! Email me if you’d like to join — all are welcome!

Bring a book to leave behind, and take a book that looks good! I’ll also have ten copies of the March book club book available, AND I’m bringing HTBH STICKERS!!!!!! RSVP here -- signup is free!
