Hello, friends! WE DID IT — we made it to another weekend! I had the great pleasure of spending last week in Northern Michigan. which feels very Alaska-adjacent to me. There’s nothing like watching birch leaves sparkle in the sun! Scout enjoyed the trip too, though her criteria are very different from mine.
Anyway! Here’s some stuff I’m into this week, which you might like too:
I recently ate a beautiful corn blueberry cookie at Publican Quality Breads here in Chicago, and in a very Midwestern move I now just want CORN EVERYTHING, so I can’t wait to try Christina Tosi’s corn cookies.
I have always been a Honey Mama’s fan, but they have outdone themselves with this new peanut butter cup flavor!!!
Two books are out this week that I can’t wait to check out: This Great Hemisphere by Mateo Askaripour, and Navola by Paulo Bacigalupi.
Also! Rainbow Rowell’s wonnnnderful new book Slow Dance is coming out in just a couple of weeks, and this is one you’ll definitely want to pre-order. (Remember in last week’s newsletter when I talked about how I used to save stuff for unknown future occations? I am very proud to say this is a book I did NOT wait an absurd amout of time to treat myself to, and I’m SO GLAD, because IT IS JUST A GIANT HUG IN BOOK FORM.)
Delights!!!!!
Y’all keep showing up with consistently excellent delights! Here are a couple of them:
“What's delighting me these days is the game Wingspan. We got the game for Christmas and since then have bought all 3 expansions and are obsessed! It's one of those games that have a lot of paths to winning and you usually don't know who has won until the very end. Plus, birds!” -Jen
“I'm so happy to share my delight with you! After being a lifelong crocheter, I just started knitting in January. This week, I finished my very first pair of knitted socks! This was something I was so scared to try, but now I feel UNSTOPPABLE! I've definitely got the sock bug, and a new pair of socks are already on my needles!” - Kirsten
HOW CUTE IS THAT KNITTING BOWL!
I’d love to hear about what’s delighting you, too! Just email me about something that’s making you happy these days.

P.S. Do you like this email?! Spread the delight and forward it to a friend! (Or spam an enemy, lol!)
I just made a Shaker lemon pie (lots of good recipes on line) and it was wonderful. Low number of ingredients, looks beautiful with very little effort & tastes divine! High recommend for a day when you’ve got the baking itch but don’t want to spend a lot of time.
I've never been to northern Michigan but I always love it as a setting in books. It has such a lovely appeal! A few that come to mind: Early Morning Riser, Tom Lake, Funny Story. Would love to hear if anyone has other recs.
Super intrigued by those corn cookies and dying to check out Wingspan! All the birds, please!
