I just made a Shaker lemon pie (lots of good recipes on line) and it was wonderful. Low number of ingredients, looks beautiful with very little effort & tastes divine! High recommend for a day when you’ve got the baking itch but don’t want to spend a lot of time.
I've never been to northern Michigan but I always love it as a setting in books. It has such a lovely appeal! A few that come to mind: Early Morning Riser, Tom Lake, Funny Story. Would love to hear if anyone has other recs.
Super intrigued by those corn cookies and dying to check out Wingspan! All the birds, please!
OMG I just played Wingspan for the first time a few weeks back and am also obsessed! A friend brought it over for game night and I loved it so much that I set out to the local indie game store the very next day and picked one up for myself. I am headed out today on a family reunion vacation and can't wait to share the cuteness and joy of this game with my cousins.
Corn in desserts forever! Jeni’s used to have a sweet corn black raspberry ice cream that was my all-time favorite and the recipe is out there floating around the internet if you would like to try it.
My farmer's market makes an AMAZING summer corn pizza with Serrano peppers and a local hard cheese, it's so good. Should be available in a couple of weeks and I can't wait!
Love that so many of us love wingspan. There's an online version with a discord for people who get really into it
Corn!! My midwestern heart also wants to eat all the corn and corn things right now. Also the mention of Wingspan makes my heart happy. I bought it like a month or so ago but haven't actually played, and now this is a sign to pull it out and give it a whirl. All of those books you mentioned sound great, especially This Great Hemisphere! I've been needing a good sci-fi, I feel like all my books lately have been almost too happy? lol if that makes sense!
My delight this week is spending a lazy Saturday morning making lavender ice cream. I'm so glad you enjoyed Northern Michigan. As a Detroiter, it's one of my favorite getaways- it's magical.

I’ve made this before as well and it was delicious! I usually make it in late winter or early spring, whenever the Meyer lemons hit the stores.

Wingspan is a delight! I heard about it long ago on Nerdette with an interview with the creator.

All of the corn things! Treat yourself to corn flour and cornmeal from Anson Mills for all of your baking projects, just next level corny flavor!
I am loving the picture in addition to the delight!
