Helloooo! Can you believe it’s already October? Me neither! But that means it’s time for a new book to read, for GRETAGRAM book club, and I’m super excited to dive into Kate Stayman-London’s novel Fang Fiction with you!!!!!!! This book is SO MUCH FUN.
So far I’ve done two GRETAGRAM book club zoom meetups, and they’ve both been delightful. I am tempted to make the meetup time the same every month — the last Sunday at noon CT — since that seems to work well for the majority of you, but I’d love to hear if you prefer that I mix things up. Let me know in the poll:
Aside from the zoom timing, I’d also love to know if there’s something else that’s keeping you from being able to participate. Just send me an email if you’ve got any ideas for how I can make these more doable!
Here are some other October books I’m extra excited about:
The Message, Ta-Nehisi Coates
Let’s Move the Needle: An Activism Handbook for Artists, Crafters, Creatives, and Makers; Build Community and Make Change!, Shannon Downey
The Mighty Red, Louise Erdrich
The Great When: A Long London Novel, Alan Moore
(All of these are listed in my recent fall books compendium newsletter!)
Of course, October means many of you are getting ready to read some super creepy stuff. How are you getting into the Halloween mood?!?
Talk to you on Friday,
P.S. Do you like this email?! Spread the delight and forward it to a friend! (Or spam an enemy, lol!)
I’m doing Hispanic Heritage Month and spooky season reads! I’m halfway through The Cemetery of Untold Stories by Julia Alvarez. It is SO GOOD. Next up is Mexican Gothic (maybeeeee???? I’ve heard it’s very creepy), Oye, and Anita de Monte Laughs Last. Then for spooky season I’m diving into The Starling House and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. I never tailor my reading to the season, so I’m excited about this change in my reading life. It’s been really fun!
I don’t know how feasible this would be, but have you thought about recording the zoom discussions each month and making them available for us to listen to (could definitely just be audio-only) if we weren’t able to attend?
